15/09/2003: "Late Summer / Early Autumn Ride"
A succession of illnesses and injuries have conspired to keep me off my bike for most of the summer. I was determined to go for a ride after work this evening, possibly my last chance before dusty trails get lost underneath fallen leaves and then thick layers of mud.

Not that I'm worried about the onset of autumn/winter. I love riding in mud and on frosty mornings, it's just that I was really missing being on a bike. I feel much better now, even though I was only out for an hour or so and I felf like my lungs were going to explode when I was going uphill.
The ride also gave me a chance to try out my P7 SS without a Surly Singleator. As I expected the chain was a bit loose and it did come off (only once though). Will have to take another look at that and try another chainring/sprocket combo, am sure I can get it to work.
I took a few pics when I stopped to give my lungs a chance to recover. See them here.
